GC Miracle

I didn't fall asleep once during General Conference today. It may be the first time that has ever happened.

And people say miracles don't exist.

Clean as a Whistle...and a Mathlete!

I'm not a fan of the George/Izzie romance, but I am a fan of this scene. I have watched it probably 8 times since last Thursday and still love it so much.

If This is Any Indication

I started my day off today by cleaning up feathers and bird organs off of the carpet.

As it turns out, that was the highlight of my day.

Job Satisfaction

Today I got a "Good work!" and a thumbs up from my boss.

I wanted to say, Wow. Your words of encouragement and positive hand gestures are enough to make me satisfied with my job. Who needs a raise?!

Although, I must admit it is nice to know that people recognize I'm not completely screwing up in my "new role". Something is better than nothing, I guess.

Have it Your Way

I'm going to Burger King for lunch and I'm not going to feel bad about it.

So I'm chubby. Big deal.

Take That, Grandma.

Today at lunch I raced an old woman in to Subway.

We started out on opposite ends of the parking lot. At first I didn't notice her (or her daughter) but picked up the pace as soon as I did. She picked up her pace. I walked faster still, trying to act like I wasn't racing her.

Finally, I rounded the corner and touched the door handle first. Winner! Instead of holding the door for the old lady (her daughter was probably 45 so you do the math) and letting them walk in front of me (like a person who actually has a heart might do), I walked in and held the door for them behind me. There was no way I was letting two people get in front of me.

Standing in line, feeling triumphant, I replayed in my mind all that had just transpired. I thought to myself, What kind of person tries to beat an old lady to the Subway line!? I'm sure you are thinking the same thing.

In my defense--The kind of person who has a meeting at 1:00 p.m. The kind of person that eats at a particular Subway regularly and knows how long it takes to get through the line. The kind of person who left 15 minutes early for lunch to beat that line.

And apparently the kind of person who has a cold, cold heart.

Not the Only One

Today at lunch we stumbled upon the topic of our pets and the comment was made that you don't have to own a large number of cats to earn the title Crazy Cat Lady. In fact, you could have zero cats and still take the cake. Interesting...

Minutes later we found ourselves passing around our phones, showing each other "the cutest pictures" of our cats (and one dog). Please note that there were three men and three women at this lunch and only one man had no pet/picture to share.

Instead of feeling embarrassed for us all (as one might think I should've felt), I left feeling comforted that I'm not the only one with multiple pictures of my cat on my phone.

I think there's a little Crazy Cat Lady in all of us.

Sweat Shop...Literally

I complain about it being hot in the office all of the time. Especially down in this end suite. Everyone else is "freezing" and I'm never close to being cold, but today it's been unusually warm.

I just checked the thermostat. It's 77 degrees in here. Unless you are outdoors it should never be 77 degrees...ever.

I'm quite literally working in a sweat shop. The building is technically a warehouse where we have a shop and I'm full on sweating.

Really America?

Did you see American Idol tonight? What in the world is going on!?

Sanjaya should have been gone LAST week. There is no way he should have made it to the Top 12. Pageant Girl (I don't know her name, but she sings like she's in a beauty pageant) should have gotten the ax as well.

I may not have voted, but I had faith that the rest America would!

McGreedy

Rumor has a Grey's Anatomy spin-off is in the works featuring Seattle Grace's own Addison Montgomery-Shepherd.

How do I feel about it? I'd be delighted to tell you.

I think it's a bad idea for the following reasons (in no particular order):

1. Grey's is at it's peak! Why take away from that by putting another similar show on the air? Or by removing a character that adds to the show?

2. The hospital bases are covered...
If I wanted to watch a show that takes place in a hospital, is a drama and focuses on the characters' personal lives, I'd watch Grey's Anatomy. If I wanted to watch a show that takes place in a hospital, is a drama and focuses on the actual drama of life in a hospital, I'd watch E.R. If I wanted to watch a show that takes place in a hospital, is a comedy and gives you a "moral of the story" at the end of each episode, I'd watch Scrubs.

3. Spin-offs don't work. Joey. Enough said.

4. Grey's is still on the air. Don't you generally wait to start your spin-off and watch it fail after your hit show has run its course?

5. If Shonda Rhimes is writing two shows at the same time they will both suffer. She could have one great show or two mediocre shows. Don't get greedy.

There you have it. My top 5 reasons there should be no spin-off.

Is There a Handbook?

What are you supposed to feel when someone you thought, at one point in time, you would marry tells you he's engaged?

Are you supposed to feel hurt, sad, happy...? Life really needs to come with instructions.

Other than a little bit shocked, I didn't feel much. I knew it was going to happen. Somehow, I knew she was it. I just didn't think it would be this soon (since they've been dating for maybe two months).

I'm surprised by my reaction, but I think it's a good thing. A friend said, "I feel for you. I don't know what I feel for you, but I feel something".

I'm kind of thinking the same thing...
