Wednesday

Wednesday's usually get the best of me, but today was the exception. Every week it's a battle and today I was victorious!

To top off the decent work day, we had a little Girls Night Out of sorts. I met Lindsay and Pamela at the movie theater where we proceeded to watch the most enjoyable chick flick I've seen in a long time: The Proposal. It was totally predictable and I loved every minute of it.

And can I just say that I love Ryan Reynolds. Adorable.

After the movie we decided to eat across the street. Our server approached us in a very server-like manner but must have seen something he liked in us because he quickly started chatting us up like we were besties. I maybe developed a little crush on our server-friend, but unfortunately I don't think he was into girls.

Dinner highlights:
-Singing Boyz II Men with the muzak (with a hand microphone and all)
-The waiter catching me singing and acknowledging it
-Raising the roof for Lindsay officially getting her job back. I usually don't condone raising the roof, but for this special occasion I rocked it one-handed.
-Pamela laughing so hard she cried
-Getting fake-shushed by another server for having too much fun

Wednesday, I think I'm warming up to you. We'll give it another go next week.

525,600 Minutes

Last night I saw RENT at the Paramount Theatre downtown. I've been looking forward to it for weeks and spent the last few days preparing by listening to the soundtrack. For some reason a lot of the songs remind me of cleaning the house - weird.

Anyway, heading to the theater is not a bad way to spend a Friday night. Good friends, good people-watching (there may have been a drag queen or two), lots of singing and dancing (on our part, separate from the show), and all-in-all a good time.

Although, I'm still unsure of how I felt about the show itself. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't my favorite. And I kind of felt like I was at a concert - when certain characters would come on stage or the first note of certain songs were played, the crowd went crazy like the audience was filled with 15 year olds and the Jonas Brothers had just stepped on stage.

Now the countdown begins for WICKED in September!

Conversation of the Day

L: We could have that fruit with dinner.
Me: Umm….what fruit?
L: The bowl of fruit in the fridge.
Me: Yeah, that’s not there anymore…
L: The COSTCO bowl of fruit is gone?
Me: It was my dinner for a few days. And I don’t appreciate your emphasis on “COSTCO”.

Sunday Highlight

You might think the highlight of the day was an experience at church or the steak dinner my roommate made (which was a close second), but no. It was a private performance of this song + dance by my friend Adam. Believe me, you've never seen anything like it.

We've Only Just Begun

We went to a Brandi Carlile concert tonight at The Triple Door and after eating and drinking our weight in deliciousness and sitting through the show we really needed to hit up the ladies room. The randomness started when I heard Lindsay singing from a stall somewhere, "We've only just begun..." (the song that was playing over the loudspeaker after the show).
Then the following took place while in our respective stalls:
Linds: Awwww, MAN!....Stephanie??
Me: Umm...yes?
Linds: Can you pass me some toilet paper? To your right. I'm out.

While we were washing our hands Pamela walked up and said, "I heard singing and don't try to pretend it wasn't one of you!" I quickly pointed the finger at Lindsay.

And this is why I love my friends.

The show was great, as always, and I think we've created another Brandi monster out of Pamela. She's hooked.

Muscle Tee's & Winter Coats

Tonight I hit up the gym and ran 4 miles...and then I got a text from my friend Pamela (you know, the friend who ignores everything I say) stating that she wanted nachos. And not the type of nachos you could get from Taco Bell, but from Matador which is pretty much the opposite of the T. Bell.

So, even though I had to go directly from the gym, I still went. To cover up my FNL Panther Football T-shirt (yup, I have one) and make things "better" Pamela gave me a jacket...it just so happened to be a winter-ish jacket. I mean, it was only 70 degrees outside, so it makes sense. And of course I was totally embarrassed because that's just how I roll.

But we rocked the Matador anyway. And as we tried to shield ourselves from the judgmental stares of those around us, Pamela decided this is what she wanted to say to everyone...

"What? Don't be jealous just because you're not rockin' a sweet muscle tee...or a winter coat."
But let's be honest, if I had seen someone walk in wearing a winter coat, gym pants and flip-flops, I would have judged them too.

Quote of the Day

Brought to you by my roommate: "I was looking at those pictures from last year. Why didn't anyone tell us we were fat?!?"

Oh believe me, I didn't need anyone to tell me.

The Seattle Dog Incident

My SLC buddy Bryce was in town for a conference so Lindsay and I had the pleasure of his company for an evening. We ate some delicious food while sitting outside (three cheers for perfect weather!) and watched the crazies walk by, stopped by the beach, had a couple photo shoots and told some funny stories.
PS - This is what we looked like last year. I'd like to think the last 12 months have done our bodies good.

We went to my favorite park with an awesome view of the city for one of our photo shoots and as we were leaving the park, what Bryce has named "The Seattle Dog Incident", took place. Now let me just preface this by saying that it was 11pm, very dark, I hadn't seen anyone else in the park and was definitely not expecting any animals.

I turned around just in time to see a dog charging after me. In my mind the dog was in mid-air after lunging at me, while bearing his pearly white, sharp teeth and growling. So naturally I released the loudest, most sincere "We're all going to die!" scream that came from somewhere deep inside me. I was legitimately scream-scared. At the same time Lindsay sort of put her arm out to protect me and it should be noted that Bryce did nothing. He left me to be eaten by the dog.

As it turns out my scream scared the dog (and most likely half of Seattle) and he ran away, leaving me to be ridiculed by Lindsay and Bryce. I think Lindsay very nearly wet her pants she was laughing so hard. I will admit, after the initial shock of it all, I laughed pretty hard myself.

Despite my brush with death, it was the perfect evening. I mean, if every night could be like that, who wouldn't want to move to Seattle?
